I am a member with the British Association for counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and have done my Bachelor and Masters in the Netherlands at the University of Humanistic Studies. I am an humanistic/ existential counsellor and provide counselling services to adults as well as young adolescents.
People usually enter counselling to help overcome a specific issue or problem that they would like to see improvement on. Sometimes this can be very clear to the individual, and sometimes it is less clear and it is with the help of sessions to uncover any potential feelings of discontent or unease.
The person-centred sessions are all led with YOU as the main focus and from the basis that you are the expert of your own life. Sometimes it is helpful to receive support from a professional to explore some conscious or unconscious thoughts and feelings to step into your own life more confidently by knowing who you truly are and to recognise all the various layers we all have which contributes to our whole selves.
The sessions are based on Carl Roger’s method of empathy, having unconditional positive regard (not judging the person), and congruence (honesty).
A one to one session lasts 1 hour and is £50. Reduction rates are possible for those with lower incomes or those working within the NHS.
